2012 Baseball Prospectus

St. Genevieve’s own baseball team has an overall record of 3 wins and 4 losses. In league play they are 2 and 1. They are off to a great start in terms of contending for that league championship.

Why are Some Sports More Popular Than Others?

During The Fall season, the three sports that are in action are girls volleyball, cross country, and football. After asking several students, “If you are able to put the fall sports from most important/popular in this school, what would it be?” they answered either “football, girls volleyball, then cross country” or ” football, cross country, then girls volleyball.”

Spring Sports

Spring time is one of the busiest times for sport athletes. Having a total of four teams competing during the spring is the most any season has. The four sports are: Baseball, Softball, Boys Volleyball, and Track & Field.

Varsity Boy’s Basketball Results

On Monday January 9, 2012, The Valiant’s Boys Varsity Basketball team played against Valley Torah High School at our home gym. From the beginning, the Valiants swept the competition ending the first quarter with a score of 29-3, with St. Gens leading. In the Second quarter, Valley Torah was able to respond finishing the the quarter by scoring 24 points overall. However, the Valiants remained dominate throughout the entire battle. The Valley Torah Wolfpack came up short to the Valiants ending the game with a score of 73-49. Linwood Foy ended the game with 25 points and eleven rebounds. Mark Chin contributed with 13 points and 3 rebounds.

Heartbreak in East LA

Last Friday afternoon, the Valiant football team headed out to East LA to take on the Salesian Mustangs. Despite the efforts of the crowd and the team, both Valiant teams came up short. The score for the JV game was 34-9 while the varsity score was a heartbreaking 28-27.

Homecoming Parade 2011-2012

After a long week of activities and festivities the Valiants end their marvelous week with the annual homecoming parade.

The Valiants paraded down Roscoe Blvd. showing off their Valiant Spirit as they prepare themselves for the homecoming football game against St. Anthony.

The Valiants were successful in defeating the Saints from St. Anthony with a score of 47-0. Once the students marched down towards the Homecoming game, everyone was excited to see the Valiants play in action. Speaker Series: Marty Albertson

On October 5, 2011, Marty Albertson came to speak to the Valiant community on the topic of leadership. Albertson has become a true leader and entrepreneur. He has worked his way up in Guitar Center Inc. earning various titles until achieving CEO of the company. However, behind his successful journey, he follows a simple concept

Valiant Victory 4-0

On September 24, 2011 the valiants defeated Pasadena Marshall with a score of 49-6. This victory leaves the varsity team with a 4-0 lead in their season. Junior Mark Chin had two touchdowns, Junior Anthony Blue ran for a touchdown and Senior J.P. Martin had one touchdown as well. Both sophomore Josh Fuglsang and senior Joseph Parsons had one interception.
