All Winter Sports Teams Make it Into Playoffs!

Saint Genevieve has a great athletic program and includes a variety of sports. All sports teams so far have made it off into the first round of playoffs. But only a small number have made it into the second round.

The Girls Varsity Volleyball team made the playoffs after 4 years. It was a great success for them because it hasn’t been done in a very long time. They played Grace Brethren and although they put up a hard fight, they lost 3 sets to none. They hope that this success will carry on in their next season.

The Boys Varsity Football team also made it into playoffs. They lost in the first round of playoffs with a score of 62-6 against Boron. We will be starting off the next new year with a fresh new team as well a new coaching staff.

The cross country team made it off to the playoffs as well. The cross country team is different from every other team because it isn’t the whole team who makes it, it is individual runners who make it into the CIF.

It wasn’t just the Fall sports teams who made it into playoffs, but all the winter sports teams made it into playoffs as well.

The Boys and Girls basketball teams made it into playoffs. The Boys team played their first round against Crean Lutheran and left with a victory. The score was 77-67. They headed off to North Hollywood in the second round to play against the Vikings of Campbell Hall. The boys came up short but ended the season knowing that their hard work lead them to where they are now.

The Girls team played their first round against Flintridge Prep with a score of 50-37. They played their second round at San Bernardino against the Falcons of Aquinas High School. They lost in overtime with a score of 65-59.

The Boys and Girls soccer teams made it into the playoffs. The girls team won league championships. The girls lost in the second round of playoffs and the boys lost in the first round of playoffs.

Now it is the start of the spring season and we hope that our sports teams will continue to make it into playoffs.
