Noteworthy Video Games for the Rest of 2011

Here is basically, and by basically I mean the games that will probably be the ones people actually buy, what the rest of the year has in store to feed all your gaming needs.

Gears of War 3 – September 20, 2011 (Xbox 360 only)

Let’s be honest, if you play videogames, you most likely know what Gears of War is. On the surface, it’s a third person science-fiction based shooter, emphasizing the use of teamwork and its cover system, with amazing gore-filled graphics and gameplay. But there’s more to that, it’s an experience that can only be described by playing the game either countless of times or even if you’re just picking it up for the first time. Check this game out, especially since it’s out now.

F1 2011- September 23, 2011

F1 2011 is a racing game which places its focus on being the driver, living the life, and competing. The game promises to bring an unrivaled Formula 1 experience that puts the players into the world through its graphics, engine, advanced physics system, and multiplayer gameplay.

NBA 2k12 – October 4, 2011

Not much to really explain here other than that it’s another NBA 2k game added to the franchise. 2k12 adds new and exciting features to keep the franchise fresh such as an enhanced My Player, a game mode in the game in which the gamer is able to create their own character and play as if they’re actually in the NBA, and other surprises will be revealed in time for October 4, 2011.

Rage- October 4, 2011

Rage is a first person shooter game, developed by id Software, based in a post apocalyptic world which will hold elements of RPG (role playing game), racing, and first person shooting elements. The car combat will only be secondary to the fps portion of the game. Players will have the option to customize their guns, cars and other things like ammo. Co op and online multiplayer will also be held in this game.

Forza Motorsport 4- October 11,2011 (Xbox 360 only)

A racing game developed by Turn 10 Studios made for the Xbox 360 exclusively, this game will feature over 500 cars from 80 different manufacturers as well as giving players the ability to utilize Microsoft Kinect. It’s Forza, so if you’re really into realistic racing games, definitely give this one a go.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record- October 11,2011

Off the Record is a re-release of Dead Rising 2 which adds new, user friendly tweaks to the game which allows it to flow much smoother and enjoyable. Frank from the first Dead Rising comes back, which some would argue is basically the same thing as Dead Rising 2. If you’re into sandbox-based gameplay along with the decapitation of zombies and you haven’t picked up Dead Rising 2 yet, then this might be the game for you.

Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition- October 11,2011

Cowboys, guns, awesomeness. If you’ve never gotten Red Dead Redemption, buy this. Seriously, whoever doesn’t buy this is missing out. Seriously.

Battlefield 3 is the 11th installment to the Battlefield franchise. It is a first person shooter placing the players near the Iraq-Iran borders where the US Marine Corps will fight the People’s Liberation and Resistance. Just like old Battlefield fashion, players will be able to utilize vehicles, classes, weapon customization, and destruction to their advantage in both campaign and multiplayer.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception- November 1, 2011 (PS3 Only)

The third game in the Uncharted series, Drake’s Deception will follow Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan around the world in search for more wonders and discoveries. The game plays as a third person action and adventure shooter that combines elements of strategy, puzzles, and stealth to create the beloved gameplay many fans have met with before. Known for its awesome graphics and attention to detail, Uncharted 3 holds movie like sections, created like a film straight out of Hollywood.

Modern Warfare 3 – November 8, 2011

Another addition to the Call of Duty franchise made by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 3 plays more like Modern Warfare 2 than Black Ops. Whether that may be good or bad, it’s most likely that both the haters and the fans will buy the game and play it for a long time. It’s Cod guys, same thing with new additions. An element I liked in particular is how they took out stopping power as a perk and instead increased the bullet power of each gun so now other perks will play a bigger role in multiplayer.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – November 11, 2011

Elder Scrolls V is a role playing game made by Bethesda Game Studios and is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim is based two hundred years after the events in Oblivion, a prior Elder Scrolls game, and like any other Elder Scrolls RPG players will be able to create their own character, travel and save the world, take on quests, and live the life in Skyrim.
