Movie Review “A Christmas Carol”

A Christmas Carol was originally a short novel by famous English author Charles Dickens. It is about a grumpy old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who hates Christmas. But one Christmas Eve, he is visited by three ghosts: the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present, and the ghost of Christmas future. These ghosts give Ebenezer a second chance to look back on his life and change his dark ways.

The movie “A Christmas Carol” was made in 2009 for a winter release. It stars popular actor Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge and the three ghosts who visit him. The movie is made with a unique sort of animation that closely resembles a video game. The main character is made to look like an enhanced Scrooge-like version of Carrey and the three ghosts are very well done. The first ghost he sees is quite scary and has an eerie feel with all of it’s chains.

The movie did it’s best to stay true to the book and it did do a very good job. There were moments of laughter and moments of tears and all throughout the movie you couldn’t wait to see what they did next. The movie did a decent job money-wise on it’s opening weekend. It is mostly aimed towards children, but the wonderful animation will bring in people of all ages. It is definitely a movie worth seeing.
