An estimated 678 undocumented immigrants have been deported by President Donald Trump within less than a month into his presidency. Last Thursday, Trump began deporting immigrants taking the first of  what promises to be many steps in is strict border and immigration plan.

Since the race for  presidency, Trump hasn’t been shy about voicing  his opinion on  the topic of  immigration or  incorporating it into his campaign. Now as president, immigration raids have started to take place across the nation.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,”  said Trump back in June 2015.

In his plan to build the wall, Trump has kicked things off by having these raids in plan to deport at least 8 million illegal immigrants with a criminal record.

“The crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed!” said Trump on Twitter.

Guadalupe García de Rayos was one of the first who deported last Thursday. Rayos was deported in Arizona after her immigration check in for a social security fraud she committed back in 2008.

“Our community could possibly be facing one of the biggest mass deportations in the history of the United States, if President Trump follows through on what he’s written in his executive orders,” said Garcia De Rayos’ attorney.

Occurring close to home, more than 160 immigrants have been deported in the Southern California area, 150 of which had a criminal history. Immigrants were taken from Santa Paula, Oxnard, Van Nuys, Downey and San Bernardino.

Still unknown is how many immigrants are planned to be deported in the next few months. President Donald Trump is hopeful these raids will be efficient in deporting many and taking a step closer to building the wall.
