Homecoming Day 7: Fantasea One Yacht

After two years of the Homecoming dance being at the same venue it was time for a change. However, the school stepped it up and decided that this years venue is the Fantasea Yacht in Marina Del Rey.

A line formed outside the Yacht around 7:15. The salty breeze tousled curled hair and corsages of those awaiting the venue in front of them.

The second floor on the yacht was one of the most populated because it held the dining tables and buffet. The food consisted of salad, cheese ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, along with your choice of sauce; the classic meat or Alfredo. Plain penne pasta was also available for even more freedom of sauce choice. This floor was flooded within the first 10 minutes of boarding although people took plates with food upstairs.

The third floor nearest to the top was the dance floor. It seemed to increase in temperature as the night went on but it was always filled with people. The DJ mostly played rap mixed with R&B and the general attitude was positive. He even incorporated some Spanish music into the mix. However, there were many disappointed people due to the DJ not playing any slow songs.

The final floor, the sky deck was exceptionally well decorated and well populated. The breeze picked up slightly as the night went on but most couples hung out here. Most photographs were taken up on this deck and it was a nice contrast to the rest of the boat.

“It was better than I thought it would be and I paid $80 for the view and to dance so believe me, I did,”  Andre Harris, a student from Alemany High School.
