A Haunting in the Hallways of SG

For years, there have been rumors of ghosts and paranormal incidents in the upstairs corridors of Saint Genevieve High School. Rumors include a Priest having a heart attack next to the left staircase, a little girl falling out of Mr. Corbett’s current classroom, the pitter patter of bare feet, and seeing dark figures during the night shift.

Many people have experienced these paranormal activities first hand and many have heard of these ghostly reapings. Lately, there have been more people experiencing these things due to a spike of mysterious activity in Mr. Corbett’s room.

“I’m new to Saint Genevieve this year, everything is great, I love it, but there have been some strange things happening,” said Economics teacher, Mr. Corbett.

Things that have happened in Mr. Corbett’s classroom involve every poster moving from its original spot without anyone being present, the TV turning on and off multiple times even when the batteries were out of the remote, door knobs jiggling, and doors opening without anyone being there. Mr. Corbett has even seen his lights turn on in front of him when he was the last one at the school. One morning Mr. Corbett and a few students were working on a project when a poster was ripped off the wall and flew across the room.

“As we were talking about the ghost the poster fell, and we all screamed and ran out,” said Jennifer Brownlee.

Mr. Corbett and his classes have had the most reports of mysterious happenings upstairs. Other people that  have contributed information about the rumors are Campus Safety, Senior Jennifer Brownlee, and Geometry teacher Mr. Anderson.

Mr. Anderson told a full story that took place about five years ago. He was at school past midnight and grading papers when he saw a figure at the end of the hallway. Mr. Anderson said that they had not remodeled the school yet and the door at the end of the freshman hallway was not fully see through, he said it had a small window in the center of the door instead.

“I couldn’t tell if it was something outside the hallway or if maybe it was something in front of the window,” said Mr. Anderson.

Anderson only saw half of the figure on one side of the window but he wasn’t sure if it was moving so he ignored it and went downstairs to get copies he had made. When he came back up the stairs he decided to look over again and this time the figure was on the other side of the window. Now, a very freaked out Mr. Anderson decided to investigate.

“I started walking towards it to see what it was, I took two steps and it slid out of view, I went to grab my bag to leave and I walked back out and I heard bare feet at the end of the hallway, and I just ran out,” said Anderson.

To this day, Mr. Anderson doesn’t know if it was a homeless person that snuck onto campus due to the lack of fences about five years ago, or if it was a ghost. Either way it left him a bit shaken up. The last thing that has been seen is a man in the center upstairs room of SG. Campus security has seen many figures and shadows.

“I looked up to the window and saw a man staring down at us, and when I went up to check, the door was locked and he was gone,” said Coach Gabriel Reyes, a member of the campus security and head baseball coach.

These Paranormal happenings are most active at night, and without witnesses, beware of lurking about alone in the hallways of Saint Genevieve. You might just feel a gust of wind blow by or hear the soft pitter patter of bare feet, or maybe even something might reach out and snatch you up.
